Mobile shelving installation begins with a precise floor flatness check, followed by laying calibrated steel tracks (either recessed into the floor or fitted with ramped sub-floors), installing the carriages, fitting the shelving uprights and shelves, and commissioning the drive mechanism. Misalignment of even a few millimetres across a long track causes carriages to bind, so installation accuracy is critical. Our SEIRS registered engineers use laser alignment and torque-controlled tools on every system.

Manual handwheel systems use a geared chain drive operated by a handwheel at the end of each bay. Ideal for archive rooms, stock rooms and document storage up to roughly 8 metres long.

Mechanical assist uses higher gearing to make heavier loads easier to move by hand.

Electric mobile shelving uses a motor on each carriage with anti-crush photocell safety, touch screen controls and optional aisle lighting. Best for heavy or frequently accessed loads, accessibility-compliant environments and longer runs.

Every mobile shelving installation we deliver is engineered to BS EN 15095, the European safety standard for power-operated mobile storage equipment, and signed off to PUWER 1998. We supply a full handover pack including load notices, safety operating instructions, the PUWER certificate and the recommended annual inspection schedule.
