What pallet racking installation involves

Pallet racking installation is the engineered assembly of upright frames, beams, bracing, baseplates and accessories that form the structural storage system of a warehouse. Correct installation is critical: misaligned uprights, missing bracing, unrated beams or incorrect floor fixings can dramatically reduce the safe working load of the system and create a serious risk to people and stock. Our engineers work to manufacturer drawings, SEMA Code of Practice and the requirements of PUWER 1998 (the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) on every job.

Types of pallet racking we install

  • Adjustable Pallet Racking (APR / Wide Aisle) โ€” the UK's most common system. Beam levels are fully adjustable to suit varied pallet heights.
  • Narrow Aisle & Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) โ€” high density storage served by guided man-up or articulated trucks; requires precise floor-flatness and laser-aligned installation.
  • Drive-In & Drive-Through Racking โ€” high density block storage for homogeneous SKUs; LIFO or FIFO access.
  • Double Deep Racking โ€” increases storage density by 30% over standard APR using reach trucks with telescopic forks.
  • Push Back, Pallet Flow & Shuttle โ€” dynamic systems for high-throughput cold stores, food and beverage and DCs.
  • Cantilever Racking โ€” long-load storage for timber, steel, tubing and sheet materials.

Our installation process

  1. Free site survey โ€” measure the building, floor and access; check column positions, eaves height and MHE.
  2. Design & CAD drawings โ€” racking layout, pallet positions, load notices, fire-lane compliance.
  3. Quotation & programme โ€” written, fixed price, with sequencing for phased installs.
  4. Erection โ€” SEIRS registered engineers, IPAF MEWP operators, calibrated torque tools, laser alignment.
  5. Sign-off & completion certificate โ€” load notices fitted, safety pins checked, handover pack and PUWER compliant certification issued.

Why use a SEIRS registered installer

SEIRS โ€” the Storage Equipment Installers Registration Scheme โ€” is the UK industry accreditation for racking installation engineers. Choosing a SEIRS registered installer means the people on site have proven training in safe assembly, fall protection, MEWP use and load integrity. Combined with SEMA membership, it gives your insurer and your safety officer the audit trail they need. We are also fully compliant with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), which legally requires racking to be inspected, maintained and used safely.
